Search Generative Experience (SGE)
Google's original name for its experimental AI-powered search results, later rolled out more broadly as AI Overviews.
Historical context
SGE was the label used during Google's early testing phase for AI-generated summaries in search results. As the feature moved from experiment to general availability, it became widely known as AI Overviews.
Why the term still comes up
Some articles, tools and discussions from that earlier period still refer to "SGE" — worth knowing as effectively the same concept now generally referred to as AI Overviews.
