Few-Shot Prompting
Including a handful of example input-output pairs directly in a prompt to steer a model's response, rather than just describing what's wanted.
What it is
Instead of only instructing a model in the abstract, a few-shot prompt shows it two or three worked examples of the task first, and the model infers the pattern to apply to the new input. This tends to produce more consistent, better-formatted output than an instruction alone.
Why it matters for AI visibility
Platforms often use few-shot examples internally to standardize how a model cites sources or formats a comparison — for instance, showing it examples of well-formatted citations. Those internal examples shape the format and framing brand mentions appear in, even though end users never see the underlying prompt.
