Exclusion Gap

The set of prompts where a brand is a relevant, expected candidate — based on its category or a competitor's presence — but never appears in the answer.

How it works

The exclusion gap is identified by filtering the tracked prompt set down to the prompts where competitors are consistently mentioned and the brand is not, even though the brand plainly belongs in that category. It's the specific list of blind spots, not just a summary percentage.

Why it matters

Because it's a list rather than a single number, the exclusion gap is directly actionable — it tells a team exactly which prompts, and by extension which topics or content types, need attention first. Closing the highest-priority gaps is usually a faster way to move overall visibility than trying to reinforce prompts where the brand already appears.
