Reasoning Model
A class of AI model trained to spend extra computation working through a problem step by step before answering, typically used for harder analytical or comparative questions.
What it is
Reasoning models generate an extended internal chain of reasoning before producing a final answer, trading extra time and compute for higher accuracy on tasks that involve multiple steps or explicit comparisons. They're generally slower and more expensive to run than models tuned for quick, conversational replies.
Why it matters for AI visibility
Reasoning models tend to get used for exactly the research-style, comparative queries where brand recommendations happen — "which of these tools fits a 20-person team's budget." Because they explicitly weigh options against each other, the way they compare brands is often more deliberate and more visible in the response than a quick, non-reasoning answer.
