Original Research Content

Content built around data, surveys or analysis a publisher produced itself, rather than summarizing or citing other sources.

Why it earns citations

Original research gives other publishers and AI systems something genuinely new to reference — a fact, statistic or finding that doesn't exist anywhere else — making it one of the more reliable ways to become a cited source rather than just another summary of existing coverage.

What makes it durable

Research that documents its methodology and sample clearly holds up better over time and is easier for a model, or a skeptical reader, to treat as credible than a number presented without any explanation of where it came from.

The scale trade-off

Original research is more expensive to produce than most other content formats, which is exactly why it stays relatively rare — and why a single genuinely original data point can outcompete a much larger volume of derivative content covering the same topic.
