E-E-A-T
Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness — the qualities search and AI systems weigh when judging whether to trust a source.
Where the concept comes from
E-E-A-T originated as part of Google's search quality guidelines, but the underlying idea — that a system should prefer sources with genuine, demonstrated expertise — carries over directly to how generative engines weigh which sources to trust when forming an answer.
How it shows up in practice
Clear authorship, cited sources, factual accuracy, and a track record of consistent, accurate content all contribute to a source being treated as trustworthy — by search engines and generative engines alike.
