Brand Mention (AI)
A brand name appearing in an AI engine's answer to a tracked prompt — whether recommended, compared, or simply referenced.
What counts
A mention doesn't have to be a recommendation. A brand named in a comparison, listed as an alternative, or referenced in passing all count as mentions — position and sentiment are usually tracked as separate, additional signals.
Why raw mention count isn't the whole picture
A brand mentioned once, last, in a list of ten competitors is a very different outcome than being the first and only brand named. Mention count is the starting metric, not the complete measure of visibility.
