What it is
You.com functions as a hybrid search engine, showing a generated summary answer with citations alongside more traditional web result links, and it offers customizable modes for tasks like coding or research. It predates most of the current wave of AI search products, having launched its AI-answer format back in 2021-2022.
Relevance to brand tracking
You.com has a small user base relative to Perplexity, ChatGPT Search, or Google's AI features, so it's a minor signal for most AI-visibility programs. It's mainly useful as a secondary data point, or for brands whose audience specifically skews toward its niche developer and research users.
