Content Freshness

How recently a piece of content was published or meaningfully updated.

Why it matters more for some engines than others

Engines that retrieve live information (like Perplexity) can reflect very recent changes almost immediately, while engines relying more heavily on training data update more slowly — meaning the same content change can show up on one engine well before another.

What counts as meaningful freshness

A genuine update — new information, corrected facts, expanded coverage — carries more signal than a cosmetic date change with no real content difference; systems designed to detect the latter tend to discount it.
